Hectic Week for Dennis Erb Racing in South Dakota, Minnesota, and Nebraska
(July 17, 2018)
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series took the Dennis Erb Racing team to a pair of venues in the states of Illinois and Missouri over the July 13-14 weekend for two $12,000 to win throwdowns. On Friday evening in the 'NAPA Know How 50' at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois, Dennis Erb, Jr. stopped the clock fifth fastest overall during the qualifying session before claiming the third transfer spot through his heat race. After starting the 50-lap feature event from the outside of the fourth row, Dennis fought hard for a top ten showing in the action-packed race only to finish eleventh in the final rundown.

At the state-of-the-art Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri on Saturday night, the annual running of the 'Diamond Nationals' also boasted a $12,000 winner's check. Dennis knocked down the eleventh quickest lap in Group B during time trials and later ran third in his loaded heat race. The Carpentersville, Illinois ace then rolled off from the outside of the fifth row in the 50-lap headliner, but eventually slipped back to be paid for fourteenth at the pay window after running inside of the top ten past the halfway mark. Dennis currently sits thirteenth in the latest version of the LOLMDS point standings exiting the 'Diamond Nationals.' The #28 team remains on the road with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series tour this week, as the nation's premier Super Late Model touring series rolls into the states of South Dakota, Minnesota, and Nebraska from July 17-21. Up first will be a visit tonight, July 17 to Brown County Speedway in Aberdeen, South Dakota for the 2nd Annual 'Bullet SportsWear Shootout,' which will pay $10,000 to the winner. Another $10,000 top prize will then be on the line on Wednesday evening, July 18 in a first-ever stop to Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minnesota.

The dirt-slinging action will then turn to I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska for three straight nights of ground-pounding action leading up to the 8th edition of the 'Silver Dollar Nationals.' On Thursday night, July 19, the rain-postponed 'Malvern Bank Go 50' will take center stage at I-80, as a $10,000 payday will be up for grabs. Double preliminary heat races will then take place on Friday, July 20 to help set the starting grid for Saturday's $53,000 to win, 80-lap 'Silver Dollar Nationals.' Dennis placed tenth last year at Aberdeen, while he wound up twelfth in the final finishing order of the 2017 edition of the 'Silver Dollar Nationals' at I-80 after winning one of his heat races.
